Roll on Summer........

It has been a start-stop spring/summer. Warming up into the 30's and then chilling down into the teens. Any which way summer is on it's way.

The summer birds are returning with the Purple-crested Tauraco first, followed by the Paradise Flycather.  All returning within a day or two of their normal recorded return dates.

The cuckoo's are a birders enigma. We hear the characteristic call of the Red-chested Cuckoo, and say "the Red-chested Cuckoo's have returned."
But with a bit of searching around we find that in fact the Red-chested Cuckoo is around and just
Foam nest Frog (tree frog) (Chiromantis xerampelina)
not calling yet. Difficult to determine when they have in fact returned. Or did they go away for winter?

We have been extremely busy. With safaris into the Kruger Park daily. Lions have been a bit scarce. However the last 4 days have produced some magic sightings of Lions and Leopards.
Much to the delight of the guests.
We are busy building and expanding our room capacity, but
more of that in the next blog.

Roll on summer and the rains.
