October.....the last word....

October on the domestic side has been a wonderful month.
With the arrival of a Zebra foal, seen here in the protective care of
her mother and family.

"Jeronimo" the young giraffe is doing well and growing.

Our annual rain has started, and so far is in line with previous
years. Some of the rain has been accompanied by fantastic displays
of our lowveld storms with lightning flash's and rolling thunder.
As the guests say "an awesome display of nature and it's free."

The veld is already starting to turn green with trees breaking into
new leaf, and green shoots of grass sprouting.
So summer is on it's way.
Still awaiting the arrival of the new Wildebeest, Impala and Kudu
young.
Most of the summer migrant birds have returned
and the soft call of the Violet-backed Starling,  melodious twitter of the Paradise Flycatcher and the "piet my vrou" call of the Red-chested Cuckoo can be heard around the camp.
Last to arrive will be the Woodland Kingfisher
to complete the summer bird calls around the
camp.
